City Upgrade 2025 in Opatija gathered decision-makers from local governments, national institutions and the tech sector to talk about what digital transition for cities looks like in practice.

Our CEO, Davor Aničić, joined the opening panel on the use of artificial intelligence in public administration and regulation. Representing both Velebit AI and the Croatian AI Association (CroAI), he spoke alongside Andrea Cović Vidović (European Commission) and Dario Hrebak (Mayor of Bjelovar), with moderation by Marijana Šarolić Robić (Attorney at Law).

As a partner in the EDIH Adria II project, Velebit AI will continue to support cities looking to implement practical AI tools for public use.

Other sessions of the conference covered open data, digital twins, cybersecurity and the aspects of NIS2 compliance – all core elements of building smarter and more resilient cities.
